Papaha hat worn by generals and marshals in Soviet and Russian armies. Features a distinctive yellow silk cross on red soft woolen cloth. Prototype of this hat comes from Cossacks who used the cross as an Orthodox symbol for protection in battles. Image shows Soviet Marshal Voroshilov during a parade in 1941. Handmade by old-school hatters of real Astrakhan fur with mixed cotton lining. Height: 6 1/3 inches (16 cm) base and 9 inches (23 cm) with the top extended. Shade of gray may vary.
