Black Astrakhan fur (Persian lamb) hat with ears or ear flaps (ushanka, trapper hat, aviator hat, or trooper hat). "Ushanka" literally means "hat with ears" or "hat with ear-flaps". Handmade by top class furriers of real Karakul, this cozy fur hat will keep your head warm in any weather. Height: approximately 5 7/8 inches (15 cm). My ushanka is exactly...
My ushanka is exactly as described. High quality, warm and comfortable. I wore it out last night in Big Sky, MT and got several compliments. I look forward to using it on many future cold steelhead fishing trips.

I've had a number of...
I've had a number of ushankas over the years but ever since seeing the Astrakhan in the K-19 movie (I'm an ex-submarine sailor so I've always been moved by the K-19 story) I wanted one. I was a little worried though because the Astrakhan is rather expensive and I'm hard to fit. Russian Legacy, realizing that the size I needed would be non-returnable, double verified the size. When I finally got mine and put it on I was so pleased because it fit like a glove! And it is warm like only wool can be. Needless to say, I love it.

Very well-made hat...
Very well-made hat. Workmanship and material are excellent, and it fits perfectly. Very cozy and warm on the coldest days, and with flaps down it's as good as it gets. Good staff, attentive and courteous on the phone. Class operation all round.

This is a VERY cool...
This is a VERY cool hat. It has the sharp look of the Cossack, while at the same time can be folded down to protect the ears in extreme cold. I ordered several hats from Russian Legacy 2 years ago and they were hugely successful as Christmas presents. You won't find better cold weather head wear.
